Function Explanation: This kit uses NE555 and CD4017 chips to create a simulated police light circuit. The blue LED and red LED alternate flashing based on pulses. Adjusting RP1 changes the flashing frequency. The circuit operates on DC 9-12V. The kit does not include a power supply (battery). It is easy to assemble, has a significant effect, and is highly engaging, suitable for electronic enthusiasts and vocational school students.
Circuit Principle: The kit consists of an astable multivibrator formed by NE555 and a decade counter/pulse distributor CD4017. When pins 2, 3, and 5 are reached, Q0, Q2, and Q4 output two levels sequentially, causing the blue LED to flash three times. When the 6th, 8th, and 10th pulses arrive, Q5, Q7, and Q9 sequentially output two levels, causing the red LED to flash three times. When the 11th, 13th, and 15th pulses arrive, the blue LED flashes again, alternating blue and red LEDs to simulate a police light. Changing RP1 adjusts the oscillation period, thus changing the LED flashing frequency. The entire circuit works on DC 9-12V.
